Just a brief post to highlight that the shortlist for the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) were announced today. We were delighted to see "Sub Rosa", "Interiors" and "Midsummer" all receive a number of nominations but disappointed that "The Drawer Boy" and "4.48 Psychosis" didn't receive more than their single nomination each. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Edinburgh's Festival Theatre on Sunday 14th June.
Congratulations to all those nominated.

Good CATS list I thought, and perhaps Best Ensemble is the right one to apply to Drawer Boy, although I would have liked to seen it in Best Production, or Best Director.
Good to see Dundee Rep punching above its weight once more. Virginia Woolf and Beauty and the Beast were both outstanding.
Just sorry to have missed Sub Rosa.
But the CATS list does beg the question about what is happening at The Lyceum, Perth Theatre and Pitlochry?
Interesting point about the theatres absent from the list but we can't really comment as in recent years neither the Lyceum or Pitlochry have persuaded us to see their shows (other than the Lyceum's Christmas ones). The effort involved and ticket prices are prohibitive unless something really grabs us. But I guess that says something in itself. However, I've spotted that in October the Lyceum are doing an adaptation of "Confessions of a Justified Sinner" so we'll definitely be trying to see that.
